Mode of action
Orally active third generation cephalosporin Cefixime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis.
Indication
Typhoid fever, Respiratory tract infection, Urinary tract infection, Intravenous to oral switch therapy, G.I. Tract infection, Pyrexia of unknown origin (P.U.O), Gonorrhoea
Dosage – 1 tablet twice daily
Contraindication – Cephalosporin allergy, kidney disease
Drug interaction – BCG, Cholera Vaccine
