Aceclofenac 100 mg & Paracetamol 325 mg I.P. Tablets
Pack: 10 tablets/strip
Dosage:
- Recommended Dose: One tablet twice daily (B.I.D), typically taken in the morning and evening.
- Special Populations:
- Renal Impairment: Use with caution; dose adjustments may be necessary. Consult with a healthcare professional.
- Hepatic Impairment: Use with caution; regular monitoring of liver function is advised.
- Elderly: Careful monitoring is recommended due to the increased risk of side effects, particularly gastrointestinal and renal issues.
Mode of Action:
- Aceclofenac: A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which is involved in the production of prostaglandins, chemicals responsible for pain, inflammation, and fever.
- Paracetamol: An analgesic and antipyretic that works centrally in the brain to reduce pain and fever. It also enhances the pain-relieving effects of aceclofenac.
Indication:
- Relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and other musculoskeletal disorders.
- Management of mild to moderate pain, including headache, toothache, and menstrual pain.
How to Take ACEPELLA:
- Take one tablet twice daily, preferably with or after food to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.
- Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
- Follow your doctor’s instructions regarding the duration of use, particularly if you are taking the medication for chronic conditions.
Possible Side Effects:
As with any medication, ACEPELLA may cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them. Common side effects include:
- Gastrointestinal Issues: Nausea, indigestion, stomach pain, or diarrhea. Taking the medication with food can help reduce these effects.
- Dizziness or Drowsiness: Some patients may feel lightheaded or sleepy, especially when first starting the medication.
- Allergic Reactions: Rarely, some patients may experience rashes, itching, or swelling. Seek immediate medical attention if these symptoms occur.
- Kidney Function Impairment: Long-term use may affect kidney function; regular monitoring is advised.
- Liver Function Impairment: Paracetamol can affect liver function, especially in higher doses or with long-term use. Regular liver function tests are recommended.
Precautions:
- Gastrointestinal Risk: Aceclofenac may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration, and perforation. This risk is higher in elderly patients or those with a history of ulcers. Use with caution and take protective measures, such as using the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.
- Liver and Kidney Health: Regular monitoring of liver and kidney function is advised, especially during long-term use.
- Avoid Alcohol: Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of liver damage, particularly with paracetamol.
- Drug Interactions: Inform your doctor of all medications and supplements you are taking, as ACEPELLA can interact with other drugs, potentially increasing the risk of side effects or reducing efficacy.
Consult Your Doctor:
- Before starting ACEPELLA if you have any pre-existing conditions, particularly related to the liver, kidneys, or gastrointestinal tract.
- If you experience any unusual symptoms or side effects, especially signs of gastrointestinal bleeding (such as black stools or vomiting blood) or allergic reactions.
- For advice on managing pain and inflammation, including non-pharmacological approaches such as physical therapy or lifestyle changes.
