Composition:

• Metformin 500 mg (Prolonged Release)
• Glimepiride 2 mg (SMART Tablets)

Description:
Pridevin M2 combines Metformin and Glimepiride in a SMART tablet formulation to provide effective management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This prolonged-release combination offers sustained blood glucose control by combining the glucose-lowering action of Metformin with the insulin-secreting stimulation of Glimepiride.

Indications:
Pridevin M2 is indicated for:

• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults.
• Improvement of glycemic control in patients inadequately controlled on Metformin or Glimepiride alone.
• As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood glucose control.

Mechanism of Action:

• Metformin: Reduces hepatic glucose production and enhances insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, facilitating better glucose uptake and utilization.
• Glimepiride: A sulfonylurea that stimulates pancreatic insulin release, aiding in the reduction of blood glucose levels.

Dosage and Administration:

• The usual starting dose is one SMART tablet daily, taken with the morning meal to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.
• Dosage may be adjusted based on individual patient response and blood glucose levels, with a maximum daily dose of 2,000 mg of Metformin and 4 mg of Glimepiride.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to Metformin, Glimepiride, or any component of the SMART tablet.
• Severe renal impairment or significant liver dysfunction.
• Type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
