Composition

Active Ingredients:

  • Pregabalin 75 mg
  • Duloxetine 20 mg (Delayed Release)

Description:
Prevel D combines Pregabalin and Duloxetine in a single delayed-release capsule to provide effective management of neuropathic pain and generalized anxiety disorder. This formulation leverages the complementary mechanisms of action of both medications to offer relief from chronic pain and mood disorders.

Indications:
Prevel D is indicated for:

  • Management of neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy and postherpetic neuralgia.
  • Treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
  • Adjunctive treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults.

Mechanism of Action:

  • Pregabalin: Binds to the alpha-2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, which inhibits excitatory neurotransmitter release. This helps reduce neuropathic pain and anxiety.
  • Duloxetine: A serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) that increases the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain, thereby improving mood and alleviating pain.

Dosage and Administration:

  • The recommended dose of Prevel D is one capsule daily. The capsule should be taken whole and not crushed or chewed, with or without food.
  • Dosage adjustments may be necessary based on individual response and tolerability.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to Pregabalin, Duloxetine, or any component of the formulation.
  • Use in patients with uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma.
  • Use in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of discontinuing MAOIs.

Warnings and Precautions:

  • Monitor for signs of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, particularly in the early stages of treatment or when changing doses.
  • Caution is advised in patients with liver impairment due to the Duloxetine component.
  • Discontinue use if symptoms of serotonin syndrome, such as agitation, hallucination, or rapid heartbeat, occur.

Side Effects:
Common side effects may include:

  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Dry mouth
  • Constipation

Serious side effects, although rare, may include:

  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Hepatic dysfunction
  • Suicidal thoughts or behavior

Drug Interactions:

  • Caution is advised when used with other central nervous system depressants or medications that affect serotonin levels.
  • Potential interactions with anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs, and other antidepressants.

Storage:

  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • Available in blister packs of 10 capsules.
