Rosuvastatin

• Is a member of the drug class of statins, used in combination with exercise, diet and weight-loss to treat high cholesterol and related conditions and to prevent cardiovascular disease.
• Selective and competitive inhibitor of the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase.

Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy

Rosuvastatin vs. Atorvastatin resulted in significant reduction in HbAlc%, LDL-C, triglycerides, total cholesterol, athero genic index, CRP, sortilin and leptin & increased adiponectin and HDL-C. Rosuvastatin is more efficacious in improving lipid profile, atherogenic index and modulation of inflammatory biomarkers in dyslipidemic T2D patients compared with Atrovastatin.
