Telmisartan 40 mg + Amlodipine 5 mg Tablets
Pack: 10 tablets/strip
Dosage:
- Recommended Dose: One tablet once daily, taken at the same time each day.
- Special Populations:
- Renal Impairment: No initial dose adjustment is necessary, but renal function should be monitored regularly.
- Hepatic Impairment: Use with caution; dose adjustments may be required in patients with liver impairment.
- Elderly: Dose adjustments are typically not required, but careful monitoring is advised.
Mode of Action:
- Telmisartan: An angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by blocking the effects of angiotensin II, leading to the relaxation of blood vessels and a reduction in blood pressure.
- Amlodipine: A calcium channel blocker (CCB) that relaxes and widens blood vessels by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. This helps to lower blood pressure and improve blood flow.
Indication:
- Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in patients who require a combination of telmisartan and amlodipine.
- To reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with high blood pressure who are at risk of heart disease.
