Mode of Action:
Carpenem (Faropenem Sodium) is a broad-spectrum penem antibiotic effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobes and anaerobes. Faropenem is resistant to hydrolysis by Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamases (ESBL) and AmpC Beta-Lactamases, making it effective against bacteria that produce these enzymes.

Indication:

• Complicated Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Effective in treating infections caused by bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics.
• Acute Bacterial Sinusitis: For the treatment of sinus infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
• Community-Acquired Pneumonia (CAP): Used in the treatment of pneumonia acquired outside of hospital settings.
• Acute Exacerbations of Chronic Bronchitis: Helps manage sudden worsening of chronic bronchitis symptoms due to bacterial infections.
• Uncomplicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections: Effective against bacterial infections of the skin and underlying tissues.

How to Take Carpenem:

• Take one tablet twice daily, preferably at the same times each day to maintain consistent levels of the antibiotic in your system.
• Swallow the tablet whole with water. It can be taken with or without food.
• Continue taking the medication for the full prescribed course, even if you start to feel better, to ensure the infection is fully treated and to prevent antibiotic resistance.
